Rare are the persons who win their confidence and conviction, courage & contentment, patience & perseverance lift themselves for above their fellowmen. Such a personality is Dr. M. L. Bansal. After an illustrious career as a lecturer, today he is serving as principal, S. D. College, Barnala. This rise in itself speaks volumes of his dogged determination and earnest endeavors

Dr. M. L. Bansal, son of Sh. Chandu Lal was born in 1955 at Shaina, a small town near Barnala. After receiving his early education from a village school, he went to DAV College, Jalandhar for further studies. It was chiefly from Headmaster Mohinder Singh, a man with a strong personality that M. L. Bansal derived inspiration for doing hard work that is a salvtory person particularly for young men of today. After doing his graduation from Modi College, Patiala, he went to DAV College, Dehradun for M.Com. and actively participated in college activities and made his mark as class representative there. Possessing all qualities of leadership, he spreaded the fragrance of his selfless services all around.

It was in 1974 that Dr. M. L. Bansal started his career as a lecturer in S. D. College, Barnala. As a teacher, he did not confine himself only to teaching but discharged all duties efficiently pertaining to diverse fields may that be college or university duties or social welfare activities or duties concerning teachers’ union.Path of duty is the path of glory for Dr. M. L. Bansal. Whatever the responsibilities may be, he shouldered all those enthusiastically despite the difficulties and obstacles, which may block the way of a person. Besides being a member of faculty of commerce as well as a member of Board of Post-Graduation Studies in Management Punjabi University, Patiala, he was elected member of Board of Studies twice.

He served the college on various platforms like lecturer, Bursor, deputy Registrar, Incharge University Grant Commission and Vice-Principal. He is a great social worker also and is actively engaged in organizing eye camps, blood-doanation camps, environmental awareness camps etc. His untiring efforts and great achievements do not cease here. In the wake of his diligence, honours and distinctions come pouring in upon him. He remained the President of PCCTU, Sangrur unit for three consecutive years. His craving for serving others always won laurds for him. By being president of Investors Welfare Association and Executive member of Punajab Pesticides Association, he contributed a lot to the developmental needs of people in business circles.

His endeavours in the field of sports can also not be ignored. He has been continuously offerinf his services as being the Finance Secretary of Punjab Netball Association since 1997. Two senior National Championship were organized under his dynamic supervision. In 1996-97 he accompanies Punjab Netball Team for Senior Netball Championship that was held in Banglore. The team created a history in Punjab by winning a gold medal under his able guidance.

Truly has it been said “We live in deeds, not in years.” At the age of 50, by acquiring doctorate degree on the topin “Policy and Administration of Disinvestment Programme of Public Sector Enterprises in India (An Analytic Study of Selected Units)” from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. M. L. Bansal has set an example for his students to emulate it. This is an ideal, worth pursuing. He has also written books on Financial Accounting in the field of Commerce.

By no stretch of imagination the achievements of Dr. M. L. Bansal can be compared to any other. His commendable efforts in every field are yielding the much sought after results. Simple in bearing and unassuming in his way of life, he leaves an abiding impression on the minds of people who come in contact with him. He is certainly an embodiment of simplicity and sweetness.
